Dr Katja Göcke, LL.M. (Sydney) advises on all aspects of export control (including embargoes and sanctions). In addition to national and EU law, she has in-depth knowledge of US (re-)export control and sanctions law. She also advises on all areas of customs law as well as import turnover and excise tax law. Her practice includes representing clients before the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) and customs authorities as well as before national and European courts.
Dr Katja Göcke studied law at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and at the University of Sydney (USYD). After her first state examination, she completed an LL.M. programme at USYD and then her legal clerkship in Hamburg. She subsequently worked for several years as a consultant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg and at the same time completed her doctorate on a topic of international and comparative law. She has been working as a lawyer since 2013.
